How money flows through RevKeen - from collection to payout
RevKeen handles every stage of your payment lifecycle: collecting money from customers, processing it through your gateway, settling funds, and depositing them into your bank account. This section covers each stage in detail.
How money moves through RevKeen
The payment lifecycle follows four stages:
- Collection -- A customer pays via checkout link, invoice, or subscription renewal. RevKeen sends the transaction to your payment gateway for authorization.
- Processing -- The gateway authorizes the card, performs fraud checks, and returns a result. RevKeen records the transaction and updates the invoice status.
- Settlement -- The gateway batches authorized transactions and submits them to the card networks. Funds move from the customer's bank to the gateway's settlement account.
- Payout -- The gateway deposits settled funds (minus processing fees) into your bank account on your configured schedule.

Key concepts
- Gross revenue is the total amount collected before any deductions.
- Net revenue is what remains after processing fees, refunds, and chargebacks.
- MRR (Monthly Recurring Revenue) tracks the predictable revenue from active subscriptions.
- Void vs refund: If a transaction has not yet settled, RevKeen automatically performs a void instead of a refund. Voids release the authorization hold without moving funds and avoid processing fees.
