Activating Terminal Payments

Enable card-present payments on your RevKeen account

Before you can accept card-present payments, you need to activate the terminal feature on your RevKeen account.

Prerequisites

Before activating terminal payments, ensure you have:

  • An active RevKeen account with billing set up
  • A payment gateway configured (NMI is currently supported for card-present transactions)
  • A PAX A920 Pro terminal (or you can request one during setup)

Terminal payments use the same gateway as your online payments. If you already have NMI configured for card-not-present transactions, you're ready to go.

Activation Steps

Step 1: Open the Terminal App

  1. Log in to your RevKeen Dashboard
  2. Navigate to Apps > Marketplace > Terminal (or go directly to /apps/marketplace/terminal)
  3. If you haven't activated terminal payments before, the activation wizard will display automatically

Step 2: Complete the Activation Wizard

The activation wizard walks you through:

  1. Equipment check -- Confirm you have (or are requesting) a PAX terminal
  2. Install the connector -- Download the RevKeen Terminal Connector for your operating system
  3. Link the connector -- Generate a 6-digit linking code and enter it in the connector app

The linking code expires in 10 minutes and can only be used once. If it expires, you can generate a new one.

Step 3: Verify Activation

Once the connector is linked, you'll see it appear in the Terminal settings page with a status indicator:

  • Online (green dot) -- Connector is connected and ready
  • Offline (amber dot) -- Connector is not currently connected
  • Not registered -- Connector has not completed the linking process

What Happens Behind the Scenes

When you activate terminal payments, RevKeen:

  1. Creates a processing account linked to your existing payment gateway
  2. Registers the connector device in your merchant account
  3. Establishes a secure WebSocket channel between the connector and RevKeen Cloud
  4. Once a PAX terminal is paired, creates the device record with the terminal's serial number

Requesting Hardware

If you don't have a PAX terminal yet:

  1. During the activation wizard (Step 1), click Request Terminal
  2. RevKeen will create a hardware order on your behalf
  3. You'll see a confirmation with a reference number
  4. The terminal will be shipped to your registered business address

You can continue with the connector installation while waiting for your terminal hardware to arrive.
