Installing the Connector
Download, install, and link the RevKeen Terminal Connector to your account
The RevKeen Terminal Connector is a desktop application that bridges your PAX terminal to RevKeen Cloud. It runs on your computer and communicates with the terminal over your local network.
- How to download and install the connector for Windows and macOS
- How to link the connector to your RevKeen account
- How to pair a PAX terminal
- How to set up multiple terminals
- How auto-updates work
System Requirements
| Platform | Requirements |
|---|---|
| Windows | Windows 10 or later, x64 processor |
| macOS (Apple Silicon) | macOS 12 Monterey or later, M1/M2/M3/M4 chip |
| macOS (Intel) | macOS 12 Monterey or later, Intel processor |
The connector must be on the same local network (LAN) as your PAX terminal.
Step 1: Download the Connector
- Go to Apps > Marketplace > Terminal in your RevKeen Dashboard
- Click Add Connector to open the setup wizard
- Select your operating system and click Download
The dashboard auto-detects your platform and recommends the correct download.
Downloads are served from releases.revkeen.com. The latest version is always available at the manifest URL: https://releases.revkeen.com/terminal-connector/latest.json
Installation by Platform
Windows:
- Open the downloaded
.exeinstaller - Follow the setup prompts and click Install
- Launch RevKeen Terminal Connector from the Start menu
macOS:
- Extract the downloaded archive
- Drag the app into your Applications folder
- Open RevKeen Terminal Connector from Applications
On macOS, you may see a security prompt the first time you open the app. Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.
Step 2: Link the Connector
The connector needs to be linked to your RevKeen account with a one-time code.
- In the dashboard setup wizard, click Generate Code
- A 6-digit linking code will appear on screen
- In the Terminal Connector app, enter this code when prompted
- The connector will register with your RevKeen account
The code expires in 10 minutes and can only be used once. If it expires, generate a new code from the dashboard.
Once linked, the connector will show as Online in your dashboard. It maintains a persistent connection to RevKeen Cloud and reconnects automatically if the connection drops.
Step 3: Pair Your PAX Terminal
Once the connector is linked, it needs to discover and pair with your PAX terminal.
Before Pairing
Ensure your PAX terminal is ready:
- Power on the PAX A920 terminal
- Connect to Wi-Fi -- On the terminal, tap the three dots menu and go to Wi-Fi Settings. Connect to the same network as the computer running the connector.
- Open WebLink -- Launch the WebLink app on the terminal. It should display "LISTENING (READY)".
Pairing Process
- The connector will automatically scan your local network for PAX terminals
- If the terminal is found, it will appear in the connector's device list
- If automatic discovery doesn't find the terminal, you can enter the terminal's IP address manually (find it in the terminal's network settings)
- The connector verifies communication with the terminal and confirms pairing
Once paired, the terminal appears in your dashboard with a green "Online" status.
Multi-Terminal Setup
You can connect multiple terminals through one or more connectors:
- One connector, multiple terminals -- A single connector can pair with multiple PAX terminals on the same network
- Multiple connectors -- Install the connector on different computers (e.g., at different locations) and link each one to the same RevKeen account
When initiating a payment, you select which terminal to send it to. Each terminal is identified by its serial number and any custom name you've assigned.
To add another connector:
- Go to Apps > Marketplace > Terminal in the dashboard
- Click Add Connector
- Repeat the download, install, and linking process
Auto-Updates
The Terminal Connector checks for updates automatically. When a new version is available:
- The dashboard shows an "Update available" banner with the new version number
- You can click Update next to each outdated connector to push the update
- The connector downloads and installs the update, then restarts automatically
Updates cannot be pushed while a payment is in progress. Wait for any active payments to complete before updating.
You can also trigger updates from the dashboard Terminal settings page by clicking the update button next to any outdated connector.
Troubleshooting Connection Issues
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| Connector shows "Offline" | Ensure the connector app is running and your computer has internet access |
| Terminal not found during pairing | Verify the terminal and computer are on the same Wi-Fi network. Check that WebLink is running and shows "LISTENING (READY)" |
| Linking code expired | Generate a new code from the dashboard |
| "Cannot reach terminal" error | Check firewall settings -- the connector needs to reach the terminal's IP on the local network |
